Alehouse Session
Baroque and beer – this ‘tasty’ combination was nothing out of
the ordinary in the 17th century. Henry Purcell and other wellknown
musicians wrote pieces for London taverns and alehouses,
hostelries that had functioned as second homes to the English
since the Middle Ages. The ensemble Barokksolistene under
the direction of Norwegian violinist Bjarte Eike invite their audience
to an alehouse session in convivial atmosphere, spiced
with good humour, song and beer, in the rustic setting of the
Sennickerode Scheune.
