Franziska Gottwald

Franziska Gottwald emerged triumphantly from the 2002 Leipzig International Bach Competition as its winner. In the course of her concert career the mezzo-soprano has made guest appearances at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Munich Philharmonie am Gasteig and the Berlin Philharmonie, as well as at venues in Athens, Vienna, Naples, Milan, Bilbao and Paris, among others.
She is also a familiar figure at the major international festivals and has worked with conductors including Frans Brüggen, Alan Curtis, Vittorio Ghielmi, Reinhard Goebel, Konrad Junghänel, Ton Koopman, Fabio Luisi, Alessandro de Marchi and Hans-Christoph Rademann.
Franziska Gottwald made her debut at the Venice Teatro La Fenice as Licida in Galuppi’s L'Olimpiade under the baton of Andrea Marcon. She has also recently sung Ruggiero in Alcina at the Winteroper Potsdam and Alcina in Orlando furioso at the Theater Basel, where she is currently to be heard as Cherubino in Nozze di Figaro.
