Gala Concert
Cleopatra scenes by Handel, Hasse and Mattheson
In demand to perform throughout the world, Dominique Labelle, soprano, has held many a Göttingen audience spellbound. At tonight’s Handel gala, Nicholas McGegan presents with his ‘primadonna’ a selection of Cleopatra scenes in which the fate of the Egyptian queen and temptress at the side of Julius Caesar and Mark Antony is brought vibrantly to life through the music of Handel and his German contemporaries.
