Kristina Hansson

Kristina Hansson, currently regarded as one of Sweden’s most interesting young sopranos, studied at the Music Academy of Piteå, Malmö Music Academy and at the University College of Opera in Stockholm. In 2001-2002 she was invited by Gian Carlo Menotti to sing in the Vilar Gala Concert at the Spoleto festival. During that season she made her debut at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm as Gabrielle in Offenbach’s La vie Parisienne and as the Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte; her Drottningholm debut followed in 2002 with her performance in Du Puy’s Youth and Folly.
As a guest of Oper Leipzig Kristina Hanson has sung Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail during several seasons, and at the 2007 Innsbruck Festival she took the role of Elisa in Il Re Pastore. That year Kristina Hansson sang Amitta in Telemann’s Der geduldige Sokrates under René Jacobs at the Innsbruck Festival, as well as appearing at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin. In the autumn of 2008 Kristina took part in the world premiere of Carl Unander-Sharin’s The Crystal Cabinet. She is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards.
