'Göttinger Reihe Historischer Musik'
The Göttinger Händel-Gesellschaft e.V. – in cooperation with the Mercedes-Benz Center Göttingen and Sartorius AG – invites young early-music ensembles to demonstrate their talents in the competitive series “Göttinger Reihe Historischer Musik”. Taking place in winter 2010/11, this concert series forms part of the international work of the Göttinger Händel-Gesellschaft in support of young generation music-making.
The events are designed as concerts in which the musicians themselves give spoken remarks on the works being played and the composers concerned. After the concert, members of the audience can address questions to the performers. Depending on the size of the ensemble, the sum of 350,- € per person is granted to cover travelling and hotel costs.
All groups of up to six can apply, irrespective of the combination of instruments/voices, provided that the ensemble members are no more than 35 years of age. Groups are invited to present an instrumental and/or vocal programme employing historical performance practice, orientated towards the 2011 festival theme which carries the working title ‘Handel and France’. The programme should consist of works from the Baroque period (including at least one work by George Frideric Handel), as well as one contemporary work or work dating from the 20th century. A solo item is also desirable.
The prize-winners of the series will receive an invitation to perform at the 2011 Göttingen International Handel Festival (3 – 14 June, 2011).
The competition concerts take place on
