With strong partners, a top-class jury and attractive prizes, the chamber music competition has become an essential part of the Festival since 2017. Early music ensembles (2-7 members) whose repertoire is focused on Baroque music are eligible to apply. The age limit for individual members is 35, and the average age of the ensemble may not exceed 32. The competition will take place in Göttingen on May 22 and 23, 2023 (Prizewinners Concerts on May 24 and 25, 2023).
The göttingen händel competition awards the following prizes:
- Prize of the Göttinger Händel-Gesellschaft e. V., endowed with 5,000 € as well as a performance at the Prizewinners Concert on May 24, 2023 as part of the Int. Händel-Festspiele Göttingen 2023.
- Special prize “Music and Space”, endowed with 2,000 € as well as a performance at the Prizewinners concert “Music and Space” on May 25, 2023 as part of the Göttingen International Handel Festival 2023, and a performance at FELIX! – Original. Sound. Cologne.

Die göttingen händel competition vergibt folgende Preise:
- Preis der Göttinger Händel-Gesellschaft e. V., dotiert mit 5.000 € sowie einem Auftritt beim Preisträgerkonzert am 24.5.2023 im Rahmen der Int. Händel-Festspiele Göttingen 2023.
- Sonderpreis „Musik und Raum“, dotiert mit 2.000 Euro sowie je einem Auftritt beim Preisträgerkonzert „Musik und Raum“ am 25.5.2023 im Rahmen der Internationalen Händel-Festspiele Göttingen 2023 und bei FELIX! – Original. Klang. Köln.
