Border Crossers
Handel goes regional
Rome is full of hidden gardens and parks. One of them is the charming “Bosco Parrasio”, which was once the meeting place of the legendary Arcadian poets’ academy. An international early music ensemble has taken its name from this special place and, since its founding in 2024, has been making waves: Il Parrasio has won first prizes in Rovereto and, most recently, at the International Giovanni Legrenzi Competition in Clusone and is supported by the European funding program Sustainable EEEmerging. In Duderstadt, the ensemble will present a program reflecting the remarkable stylistic diversity of the Baroque era. Alongside works by Handel, listeners will hear rarities such as the symbolically rich First Rosary Sonata by violin virtuoso Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber and Cello Sonata No. 6 by the adventurous Francesco Geminiani.
The historic town hall in Duderstadt is considered one of the oldest and most beautiful in Germany. Discover this fascinating building on a free guided tour before the concert (in German – registration required at info@haendel-festspiele.de).
