Ecumenical Service
“And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Ecumenism refers to the whole inhabited world and its dialogue. Pentecost is a festival of diversity and multilingualism. The enticement of being able to communicate with everyone connects the Christian festival of Pentecost with the Göttingen International Handel Festival – for music is a language that overcomes borders and differences because it is understood everywhere.
On Whit Monday, at the close of the Festival, the Council of Christian Churches (ACK) in Göttingen invites you to an ecumenical service at St. Johannis Church, both musical and festive. The six-voice Dutch vocal ensemble Tempera Mente, specialising in sacred music of the early Baroque, will accompany the service.
