Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel, both born in 1685 in central Germany, shaped the history of music in very different ways: Handel as a cosmopolitan opera composer of international stature; Bach as church musician and scholar, raising sacred music and counterpoint to unprecedented heights. Despite their divergent paths, both are rooted in the same musical soil – the fusion of German tradition with Italian elegance and French dance artistry.

The new program by the renowned G.A.P. Ensemble brings these two musical giants into vivid dialogue, illuminating the full spectrum of the Baroque musical landscape – from virtuosic brilliance to profound expressivity.

On a free guided tour of the castle before the concert, you can discover the oldest fully preserved secular building in southern Lower Saxony – more than 700 years old – including its knight’s hall and vaulted cellar (in German – registration required at info@haendel-festspiele.de).
