Simileo Alpin
Participant "göttingen händel competition"
The Simileo Alpin Collective is a professional ensemble based in Munich. Led by Andreas Kammenos (recorders) and Sumin Ahne (traverso), together with Katharina Lampersperger (viola da gamba) and Marie Dumas (harpsichord), it was founded in 2025 following an encounter during a performance of the St Matthew Passion BWV 244 at the University of Music and Theatre Munich.
The name refers to two central aesthetic poles: similis, the similar, the almost-identical quality of the pure flute sound, whose sound production is related yet never identical; and alpin, the fascination with clarity, vastness, and the distinctive air quality of the mountain landscape. This tension between proximity and difference, straightness and asymmetry, shapes the ensemble’s artistic work.
Simileo Alpin understands historically informed performance practice not as reconstruction or museum art, but as a living process arising from the interplay of sound, space, and perception.
