In their program “Im Palast des Prinzen” (In the Prince's Palace) the ensemble focuses on functional and entertainment pieces written for winds in the Habsburg Empire. With a colourful selection of transcriptions of famous symphonies, oratorios and piano sonatas from the world of “Harmoniemusik”, Sarbacanes will take their audience to the “Prince's Palace”.

We thank the Theater- und Konzertvereinigung Duderstadt e. V. for their great support!

The Ensemble Sarbacanes was originally founded as a quartet consisting of two oboes, a harpsichord and a bassoon. Nowadays, the ensemble performs in various constellations, with a repertoire ranging from small trio sonatas to classical serenades as a large ensemble.

The ensemble explores the world of “Harmoniemusik”, composed during the Habsburg monarchy in the 18th century. Included are concert pieces, transcriptions of numerous operas of the time, and a colourful selection of entertainment pieces ranging from divertimenti to “Nachtmusik” and “Tafelmusik”.

Sarbacanes is one of the most dynamic chamber music formations specializing in original sound. The young wind virtuosos play on period instruments and master even the most difficult passages on natural horns with remarkable elegance.
