Dixit Dominus

Coro e Orchestra Ghislieri

Dixit Dominus is the largest of Handel’s three Latin psalm compositions, arranged in the style of Venetian ecclesiastical music. Handel’s only liturgical composition featuring a complete Gregorian chorale, with sparkling coloraturas and a consummately focused emotive impact, is complemented by Handel’s Salve Regina and Niccolò Jommelli’s Beatus Vir, another psalm set to music in the Italian style. Sumptuously staged with choir and orchestra, this promises to become a concert experience of transcendent aural magnificence.
