Ottone (HWV 15)

The Byzantine Princess Teofane is travelling to Rome by ship in order to stand by her bridegroom Ottone on the battlefi eld. There, she is taken prisoner by Ottone’s rival Gismonda, who wants to regain the crown that Ottone had usurped. For this purpose, Gismonda’s son Adelberto is instructed to impersonate Ottone and marry Teofane. On the stage of the PS.Halle in Einbeck, you can experience prize-winners of the 2018 Innsbruck Cesti Competition. Let the participants of this prestigious competition, together with the Accademia La Chimera conducted by Fabrizio Ventura, enthral you with Handel’s exhilarating mixture of jealousy, hope, pain and joy.
