NDR Chor - Frieden!

Of course, the Festival theme ‘Conflicts’ also includes the resolving counterpart, peace. The renowned NDR Chor under the baton of Philipp Ahmann picks up on this theme with Handel’s works and uses them to create a programme around peace agreements. Various historical conflicts and their resolutions are selected and translated musically with great sonority. Handel’s Utrecht Jubilate for the Utrecht Peace Treaty in 1713 starts the programme off. Handel composed the Ode for the Birthday of Queen Anne, which will be heard in the second block, as musical gratitude for the peace resolution following the War of the Spanish Succession. This is Philipp Ahmann’s farewell concert for his Göttingen audience after ten years as director of the NDR Chor.

Access to the theatre and seating in the main hall is barrier-free. For further information on Festival venue accessibility, please see the overview.

The concert will be recorded by NDR Kultur and broadcast on July 1, 2018, 11 am.
