göttingen händel competition 2020
You are an early music ensemble specialised in baroque music?
You have a repertoire focussing on historical performance practice?
Then you should apply for the göttingen händel competition 2020!
The göttingen händel competition marks the commencement of the Göttingen International Handel Festival, which will be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2020. For this special event, the Festival programme presents all 42 operas composed by George Frideric Handel in a broad spectrum of formats.
Therefore this year’s competition focuses on two Handel operas: Flavio, re de’ Longobardi and Berenice, regina d’Egitto. Your task as an ensemble is to present a chamber music arrangement of one of the operas, adapted to the individual rounds of the competition. Details can be found in the »Competition Terms and Conditions.
The competition takes place from May 18 to 21, 2020 (including the compulsory attendance registration and, for the winning ensemble, the Prizewinners’ Concert to be played).
Application deadline is January 31, 2020. The competition is open to ensembles with 2 to 7 members and an average age of the members of 32 years or under. Further information on the competition, the competition terms and conditions and the registration form can be found on the overview page of application documents 2020.
