göttingen händel competition 2022
International competition for young ensembles
Young talents explore new horizons!
Since 2017, the göttingen händel competition (ghc) has been focusing on fostering young talent while closely integrating the competition's content with the Festival's motto: with “New Horizons” as the motto in 2022, both audience and jury can expect something exciting. Thanks to its strong partners, distinguished jury, and attractive prizes, the competition has become a major part of the Festival, bringing artists and early music lovers to Göttingen in May to hear Handel's music. In 2022, the competition will be expanded to include the special “Music and Space” prize with its own competition terms and conditions. This will encompass an additional prizewinners concert in the region, plus an invitation by the Philharmonie Cologne for the prizewinning ensemble to perform at FELIX! - Original. Klang. Köln.
Early music ensembles (2-7 members) which concentrate primarily on baroque programming are eligible to apply. The age limit for individual members is 35; the average age of the ensemble must not exceed 32. The competition will take place in Göttingen on May 16 and 17, 2022 (prizewinner concerts on May 18 and 19, 2022). The participating ensembles are obligated to be present in Göttingen during the competition. Click here for further information on competition terms and conditions!
