Superstar Handel for the whole family
Handel’s dramatic works are about love, jealousy and power, subjects that will never go out of fashion. And the music he composed is as good and just as catchy as ever. The Festival aims to win over and enthuse not only adults but also children and young people for Handel’s music, and to offer a platform for young ensembles and talented artists.
In the göttingen händel competition, eight young ensembles enter into entirely peaceful musical combat as they contend for the prizes. In the oratorio Alexander Balus you can look forward to hearing prizewinners of the 2016 and 2017 Handel Singing Competition. This year, the programme for children and young people ‘Händel 4 Kids!’ offers established formats such as the family version and the children’s university, dedicated children’s and family concerts and a new format: the first baby concert in the history of the Festival.
The project page www.haendel4kids.de, by way of which the Festival has been making a contribution to musical education for several years, is being maintained this year by the 7th class of the Max-Planck-Gymnasium Göttingen.
