Antonius Adamske

Art and scholarship are the cornerstones of Antonius Adamske’s work. The press praises the authenticity and spirit of discovery that characterize his performances. After studies in Hanover, Basel, and Würzburg, and artistic positions in Bremen and Berlin, he currently serves, among other roles, as conductor of the Monteverdi-Chor Hamburg and is a regular guest in the major concert halls of northern Germany. He has enjoyed a close collaboration with the Göttinger Barockorchester for many years, and his particular passion lies in Baroque opera. Adamske has made a name for himself with numerous performances of stage works and sacred compositions of the French Baroque—from Lully, Lalande, Desmarest, and Charpentier to Mondonville, Rameau, Gossec, Gluck, and Bizet.

Adamske teaches at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. Guest conducting engagements and master classes in Germany and abroad, as well as numerous radio and CD recordings, document his artistic activity. He also holds a doctorate in Historical Musicology from the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg. In 2023, Adamske assumed the artistic direction of the long-established musical life at the University of Göttingen.
