Barque Ensemble

Participant "göttingen händel competition"

Barque Ensemble is an early music ensemble founded in 2019 in Łódź, united by a shared passion for historically informed performance and long-standing friendship. The musicians’ versatility in playing multiple historical instruments allows the ensemble to achieve an authentic and distinctive sound, reflecting differences between national styles and historical periods. As a result, the ensemble’s repertoire ranges from the early Renaissance to the Classical era.

The ensemble’s major achievements include Second Prize at the 13th International Telemann Competition in Magdeburg, as well as Second Prize at the Maurizio Pratola Early Music Competition in L’Aquila. In 2020, Barque Ensemble also received the Amber Harp of Aeolus and the PKO Bank Polski Award at the National Early Music Festival Schola Cantorum in Kalisz.

Barque Ensemble regularly performs at music festivals in Poland and is actively involved in interdisciplinary and educational projects, including speaking concerts that introduce audiences to early music and historical instruments. The name barque—French for “barge”—symbolizes the ensemble’s bond with the city of Łódź, where its members met and began their artistic journey.
