The Red Shoes Project
Participant "göttingen händel competition"
The Red Shoes Project was founded in 2022 in Bremen by soprano Franziska Poensgen and baroque cellist Azzurra Raneri. The name refers to Zapatos Rojos, an art project initiated in 2009 by the Mexican artist Elina Chauvet to protest gender-based violence and femicide; the red shoes symbolize the absence of the victims, the blood that was shed, and the hope for change.
The ensemble includes Franziska Poensgen (soprano), Azzurra Raneri (baroque cello), Malu Pomares and Johanna Dall’Asta (baroque violin), Felipe Faturi (baroque trumpet), and Adrienn Bernadett Illés (harpsichord). The members studied at renowned conservatories and perform with ensembles such as Il Pomo d’Oro, Concerto Copenhagen, the Bremen Baroque Orchestra, and the Dunedin Consort.
